HAVE A HEART FOR STUDENTS
Have a Heart for Students Dinner and Auction is an annual fundraising event directly benefiting student scholarships at California State University Monterey Bay. Originally called the "Student Success Auction" in 1998, Have A Heart began as a brainchild of then Financial Aid Director Bonnie Brown who saw a need to create student scholarships on campus. The fundraiser started as an intimate breakfast in a private home, grew to a wine tasting with a small ticket price, and is now a four course seated meal with silent and LIVE auction including items and sponsorships by the finest Monterey and Salinas County Community members.
Thanks to dedicated community volunteers like Sue Antle, Leslie Taylor (original committee members), Shahin Anable and Marti Myszak, Have A Heart raised over $190,000 at last years event alone! We hope you'll join us for the 14th Annual Have A Heart for Students Dinner and Auction set to be held on Saturday February 25, 2012
GET DOWN TO THE HEART OF THE MATTER - STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Since 1998, funds raised at the Have a Heart for Students Dinner and Auction have provided scholarships for over 200 students. Some of our scholarship programs include: Tri-County Vision Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to first generation, low-income students from Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties who have demonstrated academic achievement and participation in community activities and the Union Bank of California Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to low- income students who are majoring in Business Administration.
Here are just a few of the students who have benefited from the funds raised at the Have a Heart for Students Dinner and Auction:
"I plan on using these funds to assist the financial obligations imposed by an ambitious senior capstone project. The project will take place in Puerto Rico...it will be one of the first international capstones completed through the School of Business."
FRANCISCO ALICEA

"The scholarship has made it possible for me to focus on my grades and not my finances."
JESSICA ABE
"I once read 'set your goals higher than you can reach and you'll succeed where others can't'. I definitely apply this to my life, but It's not easy without support like the Chow Estate extended to me."
GILBERT LOPEZ

"The Chuck Pius Scholarship provided motivation for me to explore golf related careers."
